Sunday’s 2XU Triathlon Series Race 4 in Sandringham was a great test for the athletes. The course was demanding with an extra long run up the hill into T1 that had everyone feeling the burn early and the wind made the bike leg even more challenging.

In the elite field Jake Smith put together a fantastic performance, positioning himself perfectly throughout the race and leading the elite pack out at the start of the run. Jake showed great grit and form to hold his place and finish an impressive 5th overall in a field of quality athletes.

Alex Randle also had a strong return to racing showing he hasn’t missed a beat. Alex produced a powerful ride in gusty conditions, setting himself up well for a good result.

In the Olympic distance Steph delivered an outstanding and consistent race from start to finish. She put together great splits across all disciplines to finish 2nd in the open field and record the 3rd fastest female time overall.

Penny and Lucas continued their excellent seasons with dominant performances in their categories, both taking out 1st place in their respective age groups. Their consistency across the series has been impressive and it was great to see their hard work rewarded once again.

Overall it was a challenging but rewarding day at Sandringham, with plenty of strong performances and great racing spirit shown by everyone.
