What an unforgettable weekend for the ETPA crew with athletes representing across Ironman Cairns, 70.3 and the Albert Park 5k road race. From first time Ironman finishers to seasoned competitors setting PB's and qualifying for World Championships, it was a weekend packed with persistence and outstanding results.
A massive shoutout to our Ironman first timers — you only get one debut and each of you made it count! Special mentions go to:
Steph Demestichas, who delivered a brilliant race in the pro field to finish 13th overall in 9:49.
Nathan Kelly, in just his second ever triathlon showed incredible composure and strength to finish in 10:44.
Mat Yanez, who clocked one of the fastest bike splits of the day and finished strong in 10:59.
The women also impressed with their commitment, preparation and resilience.
Tamara Joyner, Eleanor Meyer, and Susan Martin crossed the Ironman finish line for the first time, showing tremendous belief and determination. Your dedication was inspiring, a huge credit to you all!
Our experienced Ironman crew delivered in a big way:
Chris Bloder had a breakthrough race with a 2 hour and 20 minute PB, leading out of the swim and hanging tough on the bike and run, putting to bed some demons from the past. He qualified for the World Champs but has opted to fight for it another day.
Tynan Coles battled back after a bike crash to secure a World Champs qualifier, showing true toughness.
Paul Vallay achieved a lifelong goal by qualifying for the World Championships. Go Paul! We couldn’t be happier for you!
Melissa Wilson and Carolyn Tonelli secured Kona qualifications with strong top 10 races. Both have chosen to reload and chase their slots again in the future. Brilliant racing from both!
Stuart Mullenger stayed consistent throughout the day and delivered a strong, steady race in the heat – a great effort that reflected his consistent training and commitment.
Over in the 70.3 event we also had some awesome results!
Ifat Perlman Domy was a superstar, pushing through a challenging build up to take 3rd in her age group. You should be incredibly proud Ifat!
James Patterson showed great persistence to overcome mechanical issues and finish with strength, a gutsy performance that showed real determination.
We also had a few athletes race in the Albert Park 5k road race on Sunday, highlighted by Lauren Hanna who continues her strong run development with a 20-second PB, stopping the clock at 17:40 to claim 3rd place in the U20’s.
Congratulations to everyone who raced over the weekend!
